St Albans

Our amazing City of St Albans is steeped in over 2000 years of history. Named after Britain’s first Saint ‘Alban’ the City is immersed in culture, entertainment, food, drink, shopping, green parks and ancient woodlands; including the 858 acres of Heartwood Forest.

Starting in the City Centre you will find our glorious St Albans Cathedral and just across the river Ver, Verulamium Park, a vast green space where much of the City go to relax, play, exercise and get-together around the lake and beside the Roman remains. The heart of the City is marked by the Clock Tower, the only standing medieval bell tower in England. My family and I love climbing its 93 narrow steps up to the top, where the views over the City and surrounding countryside are spectacular.

St Albans offers a unique shopping experience with something for everyone.  From boutique businesses to well known high-end and high street brands. You will also find an abundance of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and wine bars to suit your mood. St Albans hosts a traditional market every Wednesday and Saturday as well as themed markets sometimes held on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Festivals, shows, live music and other calendar events are regularly hosted by the City bringing the community together, as well as attracting a wider audience.

Living and Commuting

With many years’ working within this well rounded City, we offer a wealth of knowledge and experience. As well as understanding what each area of the City and its surrounding areas has to offer, we also understand what types of accommodation are on offer. From family homes to luxury apartments and highly desirable commuter rentals, to cottages in the City centre, we know them all.

St Albans offers excellent commuter links; with train times into London St Pancras of just 21 minutes and easy access to the M1, M25 and A1M.  Airports are also within easy reach, direct by car for Luton and Heathrow but additionally direct by train for Luton and Gatwick.

The City’s excellent location is no surprise though, it was the first major town on the Roman Road of Watling Street on the way in and out of London for travellers; initially home to the town of Verulamium. In fact, if you head up to the Hypocaust you can see a plan of the long-gone town of Verulamium as it was in Roman times.
